For those of you returning to Exuma you will know how important location is, and to people about to dip their toe into our magical waters, a little friendly advise follows.
The North side of the island usually has a cooling breeze which comes directly off the Atlantic. This has two benefits, the primary being it keeps temperatures feeling manageable, and keeps the bugs away in the evening
Being close to Gerogetown ensures that you spend your time enjoying yourself, as opposed to driving up and down the island every time you want to do something. The main shopping area is in town, including the two ATM's and a couple of bars and restaurants, two supermarkets and two liquor stores. There is also Dive Exuma and Minns Watersports and the Ferry to Stocking Island. Fish fry is about a mile and a half out of town, and has over 10 restaurants and bars including the famous 'Shirleys', although I can also recommend personally another four great establishments. Half a mile further out of town is a small group of three hotels also with bars and restaurants welcoming non residents.
Da Sugar House is located less than a six minute drive West of Georgetown, and so the other two areas I have mentioned above are even nearer, and you pass the beautiful Jolly Hall beach on the way to them.
Continuing West from Da Sugar House only two minutes away is a pharmacy, supermarket and liquor store, and a further 3 minutes is Prime Island Meats (the best butcher and deli on island).
